AUDIOVISUAL COMPETITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Concept

SEGNALI is an international festival devoted to audiovisual and live performance.

Its mission is to provide local and regional audiences with the opportunity to experience a wide variety of contemporary experimental works, with a focus on artistic excellence, diverse styles, forms, and nationalities.

Since 2010, SEGNALI has offered a program that includes audiovisual works, installations, live electronics music, acousmatic music, live soundtracks, and performances.

The festival is organized and hosted by the “Francesco Morlacchi” Conservatory of Music in Perugia.

Competition
For this edition, the SEGNALI Festival, in collaboration with GRA Ambiente (Città di Castello – PG), is pleased to

announce its first Audiovisual Competition,

open to audiovisual works featuring pre-recorded video and music. There is no registration fee, and no restrictions regarding the artist’s age, aesthetics, or nationality.

The visual component may be of any genre except film (the work must not be a soundtrack or sound design for a film). It must be presented as a single-screen projection (HD 1920×1080) and have a maximum duration of 15 minutes.

How to Participate

Each work – whether individual or collaborative – must be submitted by the author or one of the authors, who will serve as the sole point of contact for all stages of the competition.

It is possible to submit only one work (individual or collaborative) created within the last three years, which may have already been performed publicly.

All participants are required to submit the following materials:

● Curriculum vitae
● Artistic statement (max. 500 words)
● Short description of the submitted work
● Link to the audiovisual work hosted on a video streaming platform (e.g., Vimeo,

YouTube)
● One image from the submitted work (1920 × 1080 px)

Applications must be submitted no later than August 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CET. Submitting an application implies full acceptance of these regulations.

Evaluation Criteria and Winners

The winners of the competition will be selected by a panel of experts composed of members of the artistic and technical committee. Prizes, generously offered by GRA Ambiente, will be awarded to the winners according to the following ranking:

  1. €600 and certificate of award
  2. €400 and certificate of award
  3. €200 and certificate of award

The jury reserves the right to assign one or more special mentions.
The winning works will be screened and awarded during the final concert of the SEGNALI

Festival 2025 edition (October 11, 2025 – Perugia, Italy).
Only selected works will be included in the festival program. The presence of the author is

not required for the performance of the work.
Works will be selected based on the following evaluation criteria:

● Consistency with the proposed concept

  • ●  Originality and communicative effectiveness of the visual language
  • ●  Creativity in the use of technologies, tools, content, and media devices The shortlist of selected works will be published on the SEGNALI Festival website by September 1, 2025. Once selected, the final versions of the works must be submitted via WeTransfer, Dropbox or similar platforms to callsegnali@conservatorioperugia.it no later than September 15, 2025.   1. By participating in the competition, the participant unconditionally and fully accepts these regulations.
  2. Participants retain ownership of the submitted material; however, by participating, they grant the Festival the right to use this material free of charge for

communication, educational and promotional purposes, including publication, duplication, and/or reproduction of submitted material in contexts and venues other than the Festival itself. Any commercial use is excluded.

  1. By participating in this call, the artist certifies the originality of the submitted work/composition and declares to hold the legal rights to the submitted work and authorizes its public screening without claiming any compensation, releasing the organizers and screening venues from any present or future liability.
  2. The personal data provided by the artists will be processed in compliance with Law 675/96 (“Privacy Law”) and subsequent amendments D.lgs. 196/2003 (“Privacy Code”). Any television, radio, recording, and broadcasting of the submitted works, aimed at promoting the artists or the festival itself through marketing and communication actions, are authorized by the author without any additional cost to the organization and without requiring prior consent from the artist.

The Festival is not subject to the provisions of D.P.R. 430/2001 related to the regulation of competitions and prize operations, as it concerns the production of an artistic work for which the awarding of the prize represents recognition of personal merit; therefore, it falls under the exclusion provision in art. 6 paragraph 1 letter a) of D.P.R. 430/2001.
